Going for gold
Athletes from Romulus are competing this week in the annual Senior Olympics which began Monday and continue through tomorrow at various venues throughout the downriver community.
The participants are all 55 and older competing in various regional events including pickleball, bowling, golf, bocce, shuffleboard, billiards, tennis, basketball, brain games, a fun walk, a 5K bike race, and others. Romulus Senior Center team members are participating this week in the multi-community games where seniors compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals.
The Romulus Senior Services Department provides entertainment, recreation and essential services for Romulus' older adult population. The fully staffed Senior Citizen Center is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The center is located at 36525 Bibbins Road in the city.
