Sumpter Township October Jam celebration set for tomorrow

Sumpter Township will light up the sky at the finale of the October Jam set to begin at 4 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 3, at the Community Center Pavilion.

While the scheduled fireworks display will conclude the free event, members of the Parks and Recreation Department have planned a full day of family entertainment. A free concert featuring The Stone Blossoms is planned with special guest artist Daniel Harrison. There will be a 45-foot obstacle course with a slide, inflatable axe throwing and bonfires among other entertainment planned.

Food trucks scheduled to be on site include The King of Ribs & Soul Food, Cookin’ with Passion and specialty drinks by Infiniteas.

The grand finale fireworks will be overseen by the Michigan Fireworks Club, organizers said and is expected to be a fitting close to the celebration.

October Jam is a family-friendly event and is free. Visitors are urged to bring their own lawn chairs and coolers and, “most importantly, bring your party spirit” organizers said

The pavilion is located at 23501 Sumpter Road.
