A move to a third-party service for preparation of water bills has been proposed in Sumpter Township.
Township Manager Anthony Burdick said that his research found that the lowest cost for the service would be with the company that currently prepares the township tax billings. He said the cost of the service would be about $8,000 for quarterly billings of 3,200 hundred service addresses in the community.
“This is the same company and is the best choice to handle the utility bills,” Burdick told the board members during the Aug. 8 meeting.
He said the water bills would be prepared on an 8 1/2 size sheet and mailed to residents. This format, he said, would also allow the township to include other information in the billings at no cost increase.
He told the board members he would have the issue on the agenda for consideration at a future meeting.
