Community project organizers in Westland have until April 1 to apply for grant money to help fund their project.
The Neighborhood Grant Program was established by the Westland City Council to encourage residents to work collaboratively to foster a sense of community and actively participate in making improvements to their neighborhoods.
A maximum of up to $500 per neighborhood grant can be awarded for projects/events that support community involvement and reflect positively on the entire city. Some examples of projects can be community art programs; community events such as neighborhood parties; parades; public space landscaping/beautification; stewardship of neighborhood parks and common spaces; youth programs like Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or the Westland Youth Athletic Association, officials said.
The application is open now and ends April 1. Funds must be spent and documented by June 30, 2022. The application is available online at: https://www.cityofwestland.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=93 and at the city clerk's office at Westland City Hall.
