Blossom

Motivational speaker to visit the library

Mikhaella Norwood
Blossom. That's what an upcoming speaker at Canton Public Library wants her audiences to do. While growing, take the limits off of dreams and simply blossom.
Mikhaella Norwood, founder and CEO of Freelife Productions, will be at the Canton Public Library at 7 p.m.  Tuesday, Feb. 18. Her company “aims to inspire people to live the life that they have always wanted,” a similar message to the Canton Public Library  strategic goal to help patrons live their best lives.

“We know when everyone is their best, the whole community gets stronger,” said Laura Fawcett, program librarian, “so we're hosting Mikhaella Norwood to inspire and motivate people who may need to hear that personally.”
Norwood's spoken word art and motivational speaking often focus on change, perspective, tribulations and building character and have taken her to two TEDx stages. Her talks acknowledge that people may be better than they were while not yet being who they want to be. It's OK to be unfinished, she said, but many times people hold themselves back. “Feeling buried? Maybe you've been planted,” she said.
Norwood's visit comes in the middle of Black History Month.
“She is an accomplished Black woman, and she's all kinds of wonderful,” Fawcett said. “Not only does she have a unique message, she's an amazing role model as well.”
Copies of Norwood's immersive poetry book, Fruit: Haiku of Haikus for the Blossoming Soul, will be available for purchase. No registration is required. The Canton Public Library is located at 1200 S. Canton Center Road in Canton. Visit www.cantonpl.org or call (734) 397-0999 for  information.
