Belleville City Hall is closed

Belleville officials have closed city hall to the public in response to the coronavirus outbreak but essential city services will continue, “just in a different way.”
The city website directs residents to call 911 for emergency response from both police and fire or a medical situation. Non-emergency information is available at the 211 number. Residents can also use the emergency email Wecanhelp@Bellevilleonthelake.com for information and updates.
The city is accepting only online and drop-box payments and is unable to return change. In the case of overpayment, the amount will be credited toward the next utility bill and receipts will be mailed for cash transactions only.

The website announcement urges residents to use the phone lines for any inquiries at (734) 697-9323. Use 5 to connect to the water department and either 3 or 5 for tax information or 3 or 4 for the building department. The website suggests that residents use the city website “I'd like to…” feature. The website also lists the city department email addresses which can be used to contact personnel for information.
The website includes a notification of changes in refuse service by Republic Waste Service which has reduced some service in the community. There will be no bulky item trash pickup and all items must fit into trash roll-out containers. No extra garbage bags on the ground will be picked up. There will be no compost or yard waste pickup during the health emergency, according to the announcement.
Residents can use the self-serve dumpster at the DPS Yard located at 370 E. Columbia for leaf/yard waste/compost only. The yard is open from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
For more information, contact Republic Waste Services at 800-858-0089
“We're all in this together and we thank you for your patience and understanding during Michigan's health emergency,” the city posting concludes.
