Candidates for office in Sumpter Township had until 4 p.m. last Tuesday to file nominating petitions for office.
While The Eagle was able to print names of most candidates last week, due to an early press time, the names of all the candidates on the Aug. 4 ballot were not included.
Seeking the office of supervisor is incumbent Supervisor John W. Morgan who will be challenged by Nelson Po; Antoine Jordan; Tim Bowman and Denise Komora.
Incumbent Township Clerk Esther Hurst will seek reelection and will be opposed by candidate Sherry Olds.
Four incumbent trustees also filed affidavits declaring their candidacy for re-election, including Matt Oddy, Don LaPorte, Don Swinson and Tim Rush. On Monday, additional petitions had been filed for trustee seats by Sheena Barnes, Ken Myers, Peggy Morgan and Eric Partridge.
Filing nominating petitions for the office of treasurer were James Clark and Vincent Warren. Incumbent Treasurer Kenneth Bednark did not file a re-election petition with the office of the township clerk.
Terms for all offices in the township are four years. The story last week also inadvertently contained an erroneous election date.
The election will be on Tuesday, Aug. 4 during the presidential primary election in the state.
