Wayne Main Street group names new director

Lori Morrow has been named as the new executive director of Wayne Main Street.
Morrow is a 10-year resident of Wayne with a background in business. She has s been a volunteer at Wayne Main Street for four years, helping with Downtown Days and serving on the committee for Toast Wayne.
Morrow has attended many Wayne Main Street events and is an active part of the community, according to a prepared release from the organization.
Morrow said she is looking forward to working with volunteers to help grow the community and businesses.

In light of the governor's stay home order, two upcoming Wayne Main Street events have been canceled. The Downtown Wayne Clean-Up Day will be rescheduled. No new date has been determined, but officials said the event could take place in the summer months.
The Mother's Day Chocolate Walk has also been cancelled due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19.
Wayne Main Street is a grassroots volunteer-based organization which began in 2014 as part of the city journey as a Select Level Michigan program. The volunteer organization includes partners and volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to create a vibrant downtown, according to the organization website. Main Street also works to market the downtown and all that it has to offer through cooperative advertising campaigns and special events that draw customers into the doors of  downtown businesses, the website states.
Main Street continuously works to enhance the look of the downtown and improve the walkability through the installation of benches, the purchase of new self-watering flower planters, downtown clean up events, façade improvements, and more.
The group always welcomes volunteers. Visit downtownwayne.org for more information or to volunteer.
