The Records Bureau of the Canton Public Safety Department has officially changed hours for services to the public.
Following a year-long pilot program, hours of operation will be four, 10-hour days each week. Hours will now be 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The bureau will be closed on Fridays.
Officials said the schedule will allow for extended-day access as a convenience to the public. The records bureau is available for processing requests for copies of police reports, Freedom of Information Act requests, applicant fingerprinting, and notarizing of handgun purchase permits.Those seeking fingerprinting and purchase permits must arrive 30 minutes prior to closing time. Individuals claiming property will need to schedule an appointment with the property clerk (734) 394-5432, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
