School district hires new communications specialist

Katie Rork has been named as the new district communications specialist for the Northville Public Schools.

Rork's hiring was unanimously approved by the members of the Northville Board of Education during the Oct. 12 meeting. Rork succeeds Sarah Jacobs who left the district in 2019.

Rork has several years of experience in multimedia and digital content creation including 10 years of television broadcasting. Those who frequently travel to Northern Michigan may remember Rork (formerly Boomgaard) as a news reporter and anchor for 9 & 10 news, “Northern Michigan's News Leader,” district officials noted.

“Katie brings extensive experience in media and broadcasting, along with a fresh perspective to our NPS team,” said Northville Superintendent of Schools Mary Kay Gallagher.  “Our school community has so many wonderful things happening with and on behalf of the students, families, and staff of Northville Public Schools.  We are thrilled to welcome Katie Rork to our team and look forward to seeing our world of possibilities come to life through our communications.”

“I am excited to share Northville Public Schools' mission, goals, and achievements in a new and engaging way by incorporating my love for digital media,” said Rork.  “I can't wait to learn about the many instructional programs and extracurricular activities this prestigious district has to offer. I am honored to join Northville Public Schools.”

Rork earned her undergraduate degree at Madonna University where she studied broadcast and cinema arts and pitched for the women's softball team.  She lives in South Lyon with her husband of 8 years, Jeff, and two children Charlotte, 6 and Silas, 3.
