Trustees move Halloween event into township hall
In response to information from Township Public Safety Director Eric Luke, members of the board of trustees have agreed to change the usual procedure for trick or treaters this year. Rather than the traditional Halloween Party at the township fire hall, this year youngsters of all ages will be invited to celebrate the spooky season at township hall where they can visit each office seeking special treats.
Luke explained that the usual service of passing an electronic wand over candy and treats to detect metal objects was no longer adequate. He explained to the board that in the changing times today, there are other dangers which can be included in a trick or treat bag. He noted that there are even dangerous chemicals which could pose a threat to children.
The treats will be offered on Halloween, Monday, Oct. 31.
