Officials seek public input on park design

A new community gathering space or park is under consideration in Westland as part of creating a future City Centre District in the community.

A survey posted on the city website regarding the proposed City Centre Park is asking residents and business owners to list amenities they might suggest for the park which would be constructed on a parcel of land adjacent to Westland City Hall. The proposed project has been in the planning stages for more than a year, according to a prepared statement from the city.

A survey regarding the preferred amenities or needs of the public is available at https://ohmplanning.typeform.com/to/Zwrxaxcd..., which can also be accessed at the homepage of the city

Plans are to construct a programmable community gathering space in the former Service Merchandise site off Nankin Boulevard. The project is the continuation of the investment in this district including the relocation of city gall and Fire Station 1. The announced goal of the project is to “create a City Centre District which will provide opportunity for future development and provide an anchor for new and existing businesses, while providing an amenity for residents, visitors and local workers that encourages them to connect with the community,” according to the statement.
