The Village Arts Factory will be the site of a unique fundraising effort this month.
A Wine Walk is being organized by the women of the Canton Learn.Advocate.Mentor (LAM) program of the Lead#LikeAGirl initiative in the township. The event is an effort to generate funding for the National Women's Health Network, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to provide women with a greater voice in the healthcare system.
The event is limited to those older than 21 and is set for 6 until 8 p.m. Feb. 24 at the arts facility located at 50755 Cherry Hill Road in Canton Township.
“We are so proud of all of the young ladies in LAM who brought such creativity to the planning of this special fundraiser,” said Chelsea Straub, youth recreation specialist. “They took great strides in submitting ideas and developing all of the details for this fundraiser to make it the perfect girls' night out.”
For a ticket price of $40 per person, participants will enjoy catered appetizers, wine sampling, live music, a pottery experience, and an art exhibition. A wine pull will also be available on-site for an additional $20 donation. A few lucky ladies could go home with a bottle valued at $100 or more. Tickets will be on sale through Feb. 17 at www.cantonfun.org/register. No on-site tickets will be available.
The mentor program, titled Learn.Advocate.Mentor, comprises young girls who have graduated from the Lead #LikeAGirl initiative that aims to inspire young women to rethink what it means to lead and live #LikeAGirl.
