14-year veteran police officer is promoted to lieutenant

Lt. Labrit Jackson
It's now 'lieutenant' when addressing Labrit Jackson of the Romulus Police Department.
Jackson, a 14-year veteran of the department, was officially named to his new rank on Nov. 25 and congratulated by Mayor LeRoy Burcroff and members of the city council during their regular meeting.

Burcroff said he is proud of the work Jackson has done during his time with the city.
Among his other responsibilities, Jackson is also the administrator on the Romulus Police Department facebook page where he offers posts and news about the department and current events. His popular posts now have about 5,600 followers.
“Normally I enjoy staying behind the scenes, but just this once, I'll step out front,” he posted on facebook announcing his new rank.
“I would like to take the opportunity to introduce the newest lieutenant of the Romulus Police Department....me. There are so many people I have to thank for helping me along the way. You all know who you are. Thank you. I look at this as just another opportunity to serve the citizens of the city of Romulus...and yes, I'm still being allowed to make our facebook posts.”
He assumed the administration role on the department facebook page about a year ago after the site remained dormant for several years. While city officials worked on discovering the password for the site, Jackson completed a 10-week research project focused on social media and law enforcement in the Staff and Command executive leadership curriculum at Eastern Michigan University.
Jackson also served as a former school resource officer since 2006 and he and his family reside in the city.
