$16.5 million Regency nursing care facility celebrates grand opening

It took several years but the new $16.5 million Regency of Westland officially opened last week and Mayor William R. Wild has high hopes for the facility.
Wild said that while he was well aware of the difficulties which faced the construction of the new nursing facility, he was excited that the construction was complete.
Wild said that he hopes the development at the former Moody's Landscape yard will prompt more development in the area.

“If you look at this property, which used to be a landscape yard, and all we have here today is truly remarkable,” he said during the grand opening celebration at the Newburgh Road building. “One of the things we're hoping for is that this building here and the action and all the energy around it is going help us kickstart development up and down Ford Road.”
Ciena Healthcare President Mohammad Qazi also spoke to the assembled crowd at the grand opening noting that the company is “delighted to have it done.”
Regency of Westland is a state-of-the-art nursing facility which provides both short- and long- term care. It will offer private and semi-private rooms, physical therapy, a spa and a private dining and lounge area. Currently, the new facility features 50 private suites, 22 semi-private suites and 10 bariatric suites in the 76,000 square foot building.
Regency of Westland will replace Ciena Healthcare Camelot Hall Convalescent Center in Livonia. Camelot patients are expected to move to the new building this week. The Camelot facility will be going to the Detroit Rescue Mission, according to Qazi.
The new facility will bring about 200 new jobs to the city, officials said.
