While the members of the Canton Township Board of Trustees approved pay raises for township employees, they declined any raises for themselves at their Dec. 10 meeting .
Board members approved the labor pact for the International Union of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees which calls for raises of 2.5 percent, each, in years 2020 and 2021, with 2 percent raises for AFSCME employees in years 2022 and 2023.
The Canton Board of Trustees also approved a labor pact for the Technical Professional and Office Workers Association of Michigan. TPOAM employees will garner 2.5 percent raises annually in years 2020 and 2021, followed by a 2 percent raise in year 2022.
Merit (full-time, non-union) employees received a 2.5 percent wage increase for year 2020.
The members of the board declined pay raises for themselves.
Trustees also met in closed session to discuss current litigation involving Public Safety Director Joshua Meier's pension.
