All aboard

Westland Historical Society members are planning a trip into the past Sept. 16.The tour, on a trolley, will explore the historical significance of Nankin Township and City of Westland. The tour. Set for 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., will begin at the Westland Historic Museum.The trolley will make several stops along the route, so visitors can explore and learn more about Nankin Mills, the Perrinsville schoolhouse, historic neighborhoods of Norwayne and Annapolis Park, Garden City and Wayne Historic Museums, plus the Malcom X House in Inkster. The trip includes a drive-by and historical discussion of Westland Mall, the Chief Tonquish burial site, and Eloise. The locations and stops could change as the schedule is developed, organizers said. While at the Westland Historic Village Park - all buildings will be open and available for tours including the gift shop.
