Romulus Tree Lighting to include Holiday Train

The holiday tree lighting in Romulus will include a sighting
of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train after Santa
receives the key to the city from
Romulus Mayor Robert McCraight.
The traditional holiday tree lighting in Romulus is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 at Romulus Historical Park.

During the official tree lighting in Romulus, Mayor Robert McCraight will present the “Key to the City” to Santa as he arrives for the celebration.

A special guest helper is expected to help flip the switch to light the community tree.

Following the lighting of the tree, the city will host a number of activities while visitors await the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train as it passes through Romulus between 8 p.m. and midnight. There will be holiday vendors, crafts, live entertainment, pictures with Santa, food trucks and more and other activities planned.

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train is a holiday illuminated train that travels across two historic railways (Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern) spreading holiday cheer and raising donations to help those struggling with food insecurity.

The 2023 Holiday Train tours Canada and the United States Nov. 20 through Dec. 19, raising money, food and awareness for the important work that food banks do in their communities.

Since its inception in 1999, the Holiday Train has generated more than $22.5 million and more than 5 million pounds of food for community food banks across North America.
