Recent transfers and reassignments of administrators in the Wayne-Westland Community Schools district have followed the surprise discovery by auditors of a $17.6 million budget deficit.
In the recent reassignment, Chris Swanson, the principal at Wildwood Elementary School will become the assistant principal at Wayne-Westland Innovative Academy. Swanson has been the principal at Wildwood for four years and was previously at Hamilton Elementary School in the district.
The current assistant principal at Wayne-Westland Innovative Academy, Steve Barber, will become the athletic director at Wayne Memorial High School, according to district officials. In another change, Angela Whateley will become the assistant principal at Franklin Middle School. She has been serving as the assistant principal and Hicks Elementary School in the district.
Superintendent of School Dr. John Dignan expressed confidence and enthusiasm for the changes during the announcement of the transitions.
