Romulus City Hall offering contact-free services

The City of Romulus is adhering to state and local health guidelines and  all essential city buildings are staffed and able to provide residents access to critical city transactions, according to Mayor LeRoy Burcroff.

“The health and safety of our residents is our number one priority, and we remain committed to providing the high-quality customer service our residents depend on during the ongoing pandemic,” he said in a prepared statement.

While the city buildings are staffed, residents can reach departments directly by phone for contact-free service. For the most efficient service, he suggested, call the department needed directly at http://romulusgov.com/departments/ index.php.

Burcroff said residents are encouraged to pay water bills online or by using the secure drive-up black drop box outside city hall. The drive-up drop box is open to residents 24/7 and staff from the treasurer's office retrieve payments from the box Monday through Friday, ensuring payments are obtained and processed in a timely manner.

Burcroff suggested than only checks or money orders be remitted, no cash should be placed in the drop box and noted that the door on the drop box may stick, necessitating a strong pull by users. There are envelopes provided at the white drop box clearly marked “envelopes” he said.

For questions regarding online payment or the drop box, contact city Treasurer Stacy Paige at (734) 942-7580.

Those who must visit a city building, must wear a mask and undergo a brief screening upon entering the offices.

“If you do not have a mask, one will be provided to you. We will also have additional masks for you to take home, if needed. We ask all residents to enter city hall through the main doors and a greeter will guide you safely through the building from there,” Burcroff noted.
