Take a hike

Naturalist to guide walk Saturday

The Fellows Creek Wetland Nature Trail will be the
site of a Hike With A Naturalist on Saturday.
Area residents looking to explore the great outdoors and discover the beauty that nature has to offer are invited to join Canton Leisure Services on the Fellows Creek Wetland Nature Trail during a special “Hike With a Naturalist” from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday.

This free, family- and pet-friendly community event will include a walk-through of approximately 0.75 miles of wetland areas with information and commentary provided by Justin Smith, a community outreach interpreter from Huron-Clinton Metroparks.

“Staying physically active is one of the best ways to keep your mind and body healthy, especially in these stressful times,” said Canton Township Special Events Coordinator Gary Marks.

“We're excited to offer this unique opportunity for participants to become better educated about this special ecosystem that's right here in Canton.”

The entrance to the Fellows Creek Wetland Nature Trail is located in Flodin Park, which is located at Morton Taylor and Saltz Road.  Parking is available in the Flodin Park lot, until spots are filled. Participants can also take part in a photo scavenger hunt and get answers to their questions about this wetland ecosystem, as well as information on 'Leave No Trace' principles and recycling.

Although this is a free event, pre-registration is required at Choose from either the 10 a.m. session using code SE1114 or the 11 a.m. walk using code SE1115.

Participants are asked to dress appropriately for the weather and to bring their questions about this unique trail. The hike will take place rain or shine.

Canton Leisure Services is committed to offering a safe, socially distanced event for participants, and staff; therefore, masks are required in order to participate in this event.
