The death of well-known former Plymouth Township official Abe Munfakh was mourned by members of the community last week.
Mr.
Munfakh, 79, died March 13 of heart failure.
Mr.
Munfakh, a 42-year resident of Plymouth Township, formerly served on the township board of trustees and was a member of the township planning commission. He also served as chairman of the Great Lakes Water Authority and the Arab America Chaldean Chamber of Commerce. He also served with the Schoolcraft College Foundation and was a long-time member of the Plymouth Rotary Club.
Mr.
Munfakh earned his degree in engineering from Louisiana State University in 1970 and served as the president of Ayres, Lewis, Norris and May Civil Engineering for more than 30 years prior to starting his own firm, Munfakh and Associates LLC, an engineering management and consulting firm. He was chairman of the board of directors for 17 years.
Mr.
Munfakh is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughters, Laila (Michael) Carr and Jennifer (Scott) Shaw and granddaughters Emily Carr, Noelle Carr and Colleen Shaw.
Funeral services took place at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Arrangements were entrusted to the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home in Plymouth.
