Annual Maybury Farm Corn Maze set to open

If it is September, the Maybury Farm corn maze must be open.

The traditional 10-acre corn maze will open at the community farm tomorrow and continue through Oct. 25.

Organizers said the annual maze will have a little different look this season as farm personnel and visitors will be following social distancing directives and will be wearing masks. This year, too, the number of guests in the maze will be restricted and tickets will be by reservation only. The advance ticket sales will allow farm officials to control the number of people in the maze per half hour.  Tickets can be purchased on the website www.mayburyfarm.org.

This year, the family-friendly corn maze promises to be one of the best that Maybury Farm has ever had, officials said. The maze is carved into 10 acres of thick, lush corn that features a brand-new design created by the Ford Volunteer Corp.  The maze will offer a challenge to adults and children alike and includes a scavenger hunt, a spokesman noted, and will take an estimated one hour to complete.

This year, the farm will also offer a 1-acre Mini Maze that is part of the 10-acre parcel and will take an estimated 20 minutes to complete for those who aren't quite up to the larger challenge.

The Maybury Farm corn maze is open until 9 p.m. Fridays through Sunday evenings, with the last wagon going out one hour before close. Intrepid maze enthusiasts can attempt to find their way through in the dark with just the moon to guide the way.

After leaving the maze, Parmenter's cider and donuts along with other treats will be available to purchase at the Maybury Farm General Store.

For parties of 25 can schedule a corn maze event on Tuesday-Thursday evenings at (248) 374-0200. Maybury Farm also offers bonfires available for those private parties.

The Maybury Farm Corn Maze is open from 5-9 p.m. Fridays; 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Sundays. The last wagon leaves for the maze one hour prior to close.

Admission to the corn maze is $10 per person and includes a tractor-drawn wagon ride through the farm.  Children under 2 are admitted at no cost with an adult.

Maybury Farm is operated by the Northville Community Foundation; this fundraiser helps the foundation generate funds to feed the animals and support the work of the farm.
