The library will remain in the curbside pickup phase of the reopening plan while the building is being prepared for reopening to the public, a spokesman said.
“We are applying for grants to help us with social distancing signage, deep cleaning, and other supplies to make the library as safe as possible for you. Our first priority is the safety and well-being of our staff and patrons, so we are closely following protocols from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and MiOSHA,” he noted in a posting on the library website.
New policies and procedures have been approved by members of the library board to ensure safety and proper use of the building, he added. As more information and guidelines for public libraries are received from the State of Michigan, the library will publicize those efforts on the website and Facebook page with further updates.
Holds on books and materials can now be placed on items from all libraries in the system through the online catalog. Patrons will receive an email notification and can call from the parking lot to have a staff member deliver the materials to their vehicles.
Curbside Pickup Hours are noon until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The outdoor drop box is still available for returns and returns can be made by driving to the parking lot of the library and calling a staff member to come retrieve them from the vehicle.
Expiring library cards have been automatically renewed through Sept. 30 and due dates on materials have been extended to Sept. 30. New library cards can be obtained by calling or emailing the library and providing proper identification. Processing does take a few days, a spokesman noted.
Friends of the Library are not accepting donations book donations at this time, he added.
