Dads and daughters got their “boogie” on in Romulus recently and didn't let the pandemic interfere with the annual Daddy-Daughter dance in the area. Recreation planners in the city moved the event to the city parking lot where the couples could show off their dance moves during the Daddy-Daughter Parking Lot Disco event.
There were bell-bottom pants, platform shoes, pony tails and even an Afro wig demonstrating the true 1970s spirit of the event. An obvious success with the participants, the event also drew praise and two awards from the mParks and mParks Professional Recognition Committee who presented the Romulus Parks and Recreation Department with an “Innovative Programming” award this year. Officials said in a prepared release that the recreation department has made a commitment to continue to host family-friendly events during the COVID-10 pandemic and offer residents creative recreational experiences.
