Volunteers sought to aid at COVID vaccination clinics

Volunteers to help in the fight against the pandemic are needed in Canton Township.

Canton has scheduled vaccination clinics each week through the end of June, and the effort is in need of volunteer assistants.

Currently, township officials are utilizing adult volunteers who have a current volunteer application on file with Canton Leisure Services or Canton CERT team members. Anyone who is currently a volunteer with Canton Township and would like to help out at the clinics, should review the available time slots and sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B054EAFAC23A1FC1-vaccine

Volunteers are asked to work a four-hour shift and will have an opportunity to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, if desired. For more information, email jaiello@canton-mi.org.

Anyone who is not currently a registered volunteer, can visit www.canton-mi.org/582 and complete an application. Processing of this application, which includes a background check, may take several days and does not guarantee approval, officials said. Individuals should not sign up for a volunteer shift if they do not have an approved application on file.  These background checks help ensure the safety of residents, officials said.

Upon signing up for a volunteer shift(s), volunteers will receive a confirmation and then a reminder two days prior to the specified time; volunteers are only required to volunteer one four-hour shift, but multiple dates are welcome; volunteers 16-17 must be accompanied by their guardian (who is also volunteering on the same date), and volunteers will be given the opportunity to receive a vaccine if desired, although the inoculation cannot be gifted to another person.
