When a group of Romulus Middle School students buried a time capsule back in 1995, they did a really good job.
So good, in fact, that as the same Romulus High School Class of 2000 class members get ready to celebrate their delayed 20th class reunion, they can't find it.
Romulus Councilwoman Kathy Abdo asked the members of the council during a recent meeting to use their personal resources to see if they might know of anyone who might remember where the time capsule was buried.
“They had to cancel the 20th reunion last year due to COVID,” Abdo told the board members, “but are planning to have it July 31 this year.”
She said the then 8th grade students have been seeking the location of the “buried treasure” for weeks, but they cannot remember where it is buried.
“If anyone has any recollection of where it might be, please let me know,” he retired Romulus High School teacher said. “They would really like to open it during the reunion.”
Abdo explained that this Class of 2000 was the group chronicled throughout their educational time with regular newspaper stories.
“The Free Press did an article about them every year,” she reminded the council members and said that she and others have been contacting former teachers and others in an effort to find the junior high school project.
Abdo said anyone with information could contact her through the number listed on the Romulus city website (734) 955-4506, option 3 or email her at kabdo@romulusgov.com.
