The group braved 27-degree temperatures to clean and police the area from Elizabeth Street to the pier and then all the way to Wayne Road, an organizer said. Volunteer workers from the 29th District Court as well as a representative from Outward Bound joined the effort.
Work began at 10 a.m. with the distribution of equipment and cleaning at the top of the ridge where trash had accumulated since the last group effort, an organizer said.As afternoon temperatures dropped to 25 degrees, the crew ended their efforts but will reconvene for further cleanup of the area later this spring, organizers said. Volunteers of any experience level are always welcome to help in the efforts, they added.
