More than15,000 visitors are expected to attend the Northville Art House Arts and Acts Festival set for June 16, 17 and 18 this year.
The festival is a three-day showcase of art, music, and food which includes the popular 35th Annual Art in the Sun Juried Art Fair which showcases contemporary art, handicraft work, and unique creations by 100 fine artists and crafters from Michigan and around the country.
Arts and Acts will be open from 3 until 6 p.m. on Friday, June 16, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, and from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 18.
The festival takes place on West Cady Street and officials said there will be several free parking areas as well as local restaurants, shops, and neighborhood venues located within walking distance of the festival.
Scheduled for the event in addition to the Art in the Sun juried fair is live entertainment, including strolling horn players as well as youth solo and group musical performances.
The popular Art House Chalk Walk will again present sidewalk creations while Orin Jewelers will offer contestants a change to win a necklace by guessing what time the necklace falls from the melting Art Loves You heart-shaped ice block ,
New this year will be the Detroit Institute of Arts tent offering a make and take arts-based activity and enrichment program; Plein Air painting with artists painting outdoors in Town Square and downtown Northville.
A sensory friendly interactive experience for individuals with diverse abilities will be available inside the Northville Art House.
Entertainment also includes henna tattoo artists, art and science activities, interactive exhibits and contests, and more through partnerships with businesses and organizations in Northville, Ann Arbor and Metro Detroit.
The Arts and Acts Festival is the largest fundraiser for Northville Art House Inc., a 501(c)3 arts organization with the mission to cultivate the Arts through creative experiences and educational programs in the community.
