The first phase of the 2023 Central Parking Deck renovation project in downtown Plymouth was expected to be complete last week.
Crews were scheduled to move to the northern half of the deck to begin work on Phase II. Crews will be replacing concrete, working on joints and completing other repairs on both the upper and lower levels. About half of the parking spaces will remain unavailable on both levels during the second phase, according to a Sam Plymale from the Plymouth Downtown Development Authority.
Officials request that drivers do not leave vehicles in the new construction zone once crews move to Phase II. Vehicles left unattended in the new construction zone will be subject to tickets and/or tow 24 hours after the new work zone is in place, Plymale cautioned.
Phase II is expected to be complete by July 3 and a majority of the parking will be reopened at that time, he added. There may be some minor work done during the month of July, but only minimal parking should be impacted. Additional public parking is available at the Christian Science Church located at 1100 W. Ann Arbor Trail through the month of June.
Some sealant work will take place in September after the Plymouth Fall Festival, Plymale added. Drivers and pedestrians should use caution inside and around the work zone and not walk within the taped off areas, he concluded.
