Inkster man faces first-degree murder charges in shooting

An Inkster man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a nurse in the Detroit Receiving Hospital parking lot.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Jamere Mykel Miller, 36, of Inkster, in connection with the homicide of Patrice Wilson, 29, of Redford. Wilson was the girlfriend of Miller and was reported to be ending their relationship at the time of her death, according to the prosecutor's office.

Prosecutors allege that at about 7:53 p.m. May 13, Miller entered the Detroit Receiving Hospital parking lot on the 4200 block of St. Antoine Street. Investigators allege that Miller, disguised with a wig, a hat, and glasses, waited for Wilson near her 2020 Lincoln Nautilus after her shift at the hospital.

He allegedly went to the back passenger side of her car and fired a handgun multiple times, fatally wounding Wilson. Miller then entered the SUV and fled from the scene.

The investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to evidence in Inkster, Garden City and Novi, according to a report from the prosecutor's office. Wilson's car was found at a Novi apartment complex at about 2:19 p.m. and responding police officers discovered her lifeless body in the rear of the vehicle. Miller turned himself in to Detroit police officers on May 14, according to police reports.

Prosecutors said that more complete facts of the extensive investigation and evidence in the case will be presented in court during Miller's preliminary examination on the charges. He has been charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of felony murder, one count of carjacking, one count of armed robbery, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and five counts of felony firearm.

At arraignment, Miller entered a not guilty plea and was ordered to jail without bond. He faces life in prison without parole if convicted of the charges.
