The resurfacing of Eureka Road between Middlebelt and Inkster in Romulus was set to begin last Monday with the closure of the outside lanes of traffic.
Romulus officials were informed by representatives of the Wayne County Roads department that the scheduled construction on the roadway would begin this week. The paving is scheduled to be complete by Nov. 1, according to a county representative.
When that work on the roadway begins, traffic will be directed to the newly-resurfaced outside lanes while the inside three lanes will close for resurfacing on Nov. 2. Officials said the reconstruction of the roadway is expected to be complete by Nov. 11.Officials cautioned that as with any construction project, weather could delay the timeline of scheduled work and completion. Motorists are reminded to use caution throughout the construction zone and expect delays.
Speed limits will be reduced and fines increased in areas of the project where workers are present.
