The City of Westland Department of Innovation and Technology was recently honored with two awards during the recent Michigan Government Information Management Sciences fall conference.
“The department was recognized for continuing excellence in driving service for our residents and staff,” said Mayor Michael Londeau. The awards included the “Impact of the Year Award” for the departmental work integrating multiple software systems to communicate better, creating more efficiencies and better reporting for various departments, Londeau said.
The second honor was the “Citizen Impact of the Year Award” for the departmental work in developing the City of Westland E-Recycle events which took place last year and resulted in more than 33,000 pounds of electronic waste being recycled rather than going to landfills.
“Multiple projects were reviewed for these awards, but we were considered the most impactful in both categories. We were also the only organization to win two awards,” Londeau said. “Congratulations to Director Craig Brown and his team for being leaders in the State for IT services,” Londeau added.
