The City of Plymouth Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has decided to postpone the first four Music in the Air concerts scheduled for May 29, June 5, June 12 and June 19.
The cancellations are due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the threat to the health and safety of the audience that usually attends the community events.
“While the 14 Friday night concert series was scheduled to begin on May 29 and end on Labor Day weekend, the DDA has decided to extend the season with concerts on Sept. 18 and Sept. 25,” said a news release from DDA Director Tony Bruscato.
“Of course, it all depends on the limitations presented by weather, COVID-19 and the potential of early construction in Kellogg Park for the new fountain.”
He added that the biggest obstacle will be the continuation of social distancing, “as the popular concert series draws 5,000 visitors to downtown Plymouth's Kellogg Park,” he said, “and thousands more who visit restaurants and retail establishments.”
Bruscato added that the DDA staff would re-evaluate the concert schedule in June.
