‘Gang shooting’ under investigation

The investigation into what police characterized as a “gang related” shooting last week in Inkster remains under investigation.

According to police reports, detectives from the Michigan State Police Special Investigation Section and Michigan State Police troopers were called to 29847 Steinhauer in Inkster at about 10 p.m. Oct. 9 following reports of a shooting.

Responding officers found two gunshot victims at the scene, a 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both of Inkster. The men were transported to a local hospital for treatment and were in stable condition at last report.

According to witnesses, several suspects wearing hoodies came from a nearby abandoned house and began shooting, striking the two men. Police said they had not yet determined who the target of the gunfire was. Police added that the incident was believed to be gang related and that the investigation is continuing.
