The Leanna Hicks Public Library in Inkster will soon move to a new building, according to Library Director Betty Adams
Adams said that in addition to the upcoming Halloween events set at the library, she is putting the finishing touches on a new building on Hamlin Street which should be open to serve the public soon.
“What I'd like to do is what the community wants,” said Adams, who started work in August.
There could be a book club, for example, said Adams, noting, “We are here and we are happy to help people.”
In addition to printing help, the Leanna Hicks Public Library now is offering “curbside” service of book pickup and return. Adams noted that's actually a small distance to the doors due to the street distance.
She is pleased with a Sept. 28 event at the Inkster library that was well-attended and focused on local resources. Inkster Councilwoman La'Jina Washington attended, and the Friends of the Library also participated.
Several medical service providers participated, and the local League of Women Voters brought Voter Guides, said Adams. “We had our archivist out with some historical information,” she said.
“The catalog is fully operational,” Adams said of the book pickup through the nearby parking lot, after you peruse the website with your library card.”
