Area runners can join a very large flock of "turkeys" tomorrow during the Romulus Goodfellows Gobble Wobble Turkey Trot.
The annual event is a fundraiser for the Goodfellows who provide Christmas toys and food to the less fortunate in the community. There will be a $10 entry fee for the event which will be used to purchase gifts, toys and groceries for those needing help during the holidays, part of the annual Goodfellows No Child Without A Christmas project.
Organizers are urging runners to wear their best fun holiday or turkey attire to the easy .7 mile trot designed for the entire family. The course and warm up, along with packet pick up will open at Artisan Reserve at 5 p.m. Nov. 18. The official trot will begin at 5:30 and organizers stressed that the event is designed for fun and laughs. Artisan Reserve is located at 26542 Goddard Road in the city.
The trot will begin promptly at 5:30 on Goddard Road at Sterling Street and end at Walter's Bar, 37452 Huron River Dr. where there will be contests, prizes and DJ Jeff Lowrey of Sound Enterprise providing entertainment. There will be shuttle service from Walter's back to Artisan Reserve, organizers said.
Organizers said the fifth annual event is designed for entertainment while helping the No Child Without A Christmas campaign in the city. The Gobble Wobble Turkey Trot is open to the public and all are welcome.
