With winter temperatures already here, Friends of Unity Church representatives are seeking clothing for children 3 to 14 years old, like socks, underwear and warm pajamas. The clothing will go to God's Storehouse, a Detroit charity that assists people who are homeless or living in poverty.
Donors can drop off clothing through Dec. 4 at the Plymouth Community Arts Council building at 774 N, Sheldon Road, Plymouth. Clothing can be placed in a labeled drop box in the lobby from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. until noon Sundays.
The Special Youth Clothing Collection is in collaboration with Song and Spirit, a Royal Oak interfaith nonprofit. It is part of the Friends of Unity'broader guiding principles, which include serving the homeless, the hungry, the illiterate and animal shelters. Activities include spring and fall yard cleanup in partnership with Plymouth Community Arts Council, serving families and collecting food for Northville Civic Concern.
Friends of Unity Church, founded in 2010, is open to all faiths, offering tools and resources to help people apply positive spiritual principles in their lives, said a prepared release.
