A routine traffic stop in Inkster resulted in charges of sexually trafficking a young girl from the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.
According to police reports, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in May of this year by Michigan State Police troopers. Officers interviewed the two adult males in the car, along with a young girl. The girl was identified by troopers as a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe who had been reported as missing and endangered by the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police Department.
The child was returned to her parents, according to police reports, while the two men remained under investigation. The final report by investigators was submitted to the prosecutor's office and both the men at the scene were charged with human trafficking.
Alexander Harris, 28, is charged with human trafficking of a minor for commercial sexual activity, prostitution/transporting person, prostitution/accepting earning, human trafficking enterprise causing injury and aggravated distributing or promoting of child sexually abusive activity. He is also charged as a habitual offender, according to reports.
He was arraigned in Inkster District Court Dec. 13 and is required to produce a $100,000 bond.
The second man was expected to be arraigned this week on charges of human trafficking of a minor for commercial sexual activity, prostitution/transporting person, prostitution/accepting earnings, human trafficking enterprise causing injury, and aggravated distributing or promoting of child sexually abusive activity as a habitual offender. This suspect is also charged with identity theft and possession of a fraudulent financial transaction device. He was also given a fourth offense notice for delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance.
