Felony charges filed in Wayne shooting

A Wayne man is facing charges of felonious assault and felony firearm violations following an incident in the early evening of Oct. 14.
According to police reports, officers from the Wayne Police Department were dispatched to the 35000 block of Brush Street at about 7 p.m. Oct. 14 following a report of a man shooting a gun in the area.
When the officers arrived on the scene, they were advised by witnesses that the suspect had fled the area on foot.

Wayne police called for assistance and the K-9 unit from the Westland Police Department was able to track down the suspect at a nearby home where he was taken into custody, police said. The suspect was identified as Patrick Walsh, Jr., 33, of Wayne. Wayne detectives were able to execute a search warrant at the home and recovered the handgun used in the incident.  The office of the Wayne County Prosecutor charged Walsh with three counts of felonious assault and three counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Walsh was arraigned Oct. 17 at the 29th District Court in Wayne before Judge Laura Mack, who remanded him to custody in lieu of $150,000 or 10-percent cash bond.  He will appear for a probable cause conference at the court on Oct. 29 and a preliminary court examination on the charges on Nov. 5.
