Student radio station to host Euchre Tournament

Students at The Park 88.1 radio station are hoping for a good deal during a planned Euchre Tournament set for 7 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the Plymouth Elks Club.
This is the 8th Annual Euchre Tournament fundraiser for the student-operated radio station, part of the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools. The station has been operating for more than 47 years.
The euchre tournament was the idea of 88.1 alumnus Denny Kapp.

“I've enjoyed playing in tournaments and decided to share the idea with the station. They thought this might be something we could do on an annual basis and we're excited to bring it back for an eighth year,” said Kapp, a Westland resident.
Tournament buy in is $20 per player, if registered before Oct. 28, and $25 at the door.  Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 10 percent of the field and players will be served pizza, snacks and a cash bar.
“The tournament has grown every year and it helps a really great program.  88.1 gave me a head start into a career working in sports media.  I learned how to cover a team through my broadcasts of Canton and Salem games.  I'm glad to be able to still help the station,” said Kapp.
Tournament play includes 25-cent Euchres and 50-50 raffle tickets.  Players are encouraged to bring quarters. Registration is available by emailing wsdpeuchre@gmail.com or by calling (248) WSDPEUCHRE (973-7382).
