Romulus begins public survey to aid development plans
Romulus city officials are looking to the future.
Vision Romulus-Our Community, Our Future is a community-wide visioning and planning process currently under way in the community. The objective of the process, officials said, is to explore the future direction of the community and create an enduring vision for Romulus, looking forward to the year 2030.
The visioning process will hopefully result in the City of Romulus Vision Plan, officials said, and the process will include numerous opportunities for inclusive and extensive community engagement.
The outcome will be a plan which will impact and influence decisions on planning, land use and policy making in the city. The process will continue, they said, until next January.“It is imperative to the success of this process to bring together a diverse and inclusive group of both long-term and newer residents to share input and ideas for their vision of Romulus” said Romulus Mayor Robert A. McCraight. “I encourage local residents and businesses to participate in the process so that all of our voices will be heard. Together we can accurately develop a path forward to a new future for our community.”
Romulus officials have contracted with the consulting and research company Future iQ to facilitate the development of the Vision Romulus - Our Community, Our Future vision. Throughout the coming months community members will have numerous opportunities to participate in and engage with the process, a spokesman said.
The launch of the Vision Romulus-Our Community, Our Future took place last week with the posting of a survey on the city website. The survey asks for answers to 20 in-depth questions and will take approximately 10 minutes to complete, officials said. The questions are an initial effort to understand residents' perspective about key trends shaping the future of Romulus.
Officials cautioned that the survey will “time out” if left open and incomplete. The survey must be completed in one sitting and partial responses will not be saved.
“Find a comfortable place, allow some uninterrupted time and share your thoughts and views,” officials recommended. The online survey will be open until Sept. 12. Hard copies of the survey are also available at Romulus City Hall, 11111 Wayne Road. The offices are open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
