‘Matilda’ performances planned in Plymouth

A little girl with a very big brain; a troop of schoolchildren with a taste for revenge; a cruel headmistress with a secret, and a used-car salesman. Those characters, and more, will come to life when Matilda the Musical comes to Plymouth Nov. 7 through 10.
The show, based on a Roald Dahl children's book, will transform the theater at the Plymouth Arts and Recreation Complex into an English private school for six performances.

A cast of children, teens and adults will be the first to bring the show to western Wayne County, through Forever After Productions. Matilda, which was a smash in London and on Broadway, combines Dahl's mischief-filled story with the tongue-twisting words and over-the-top music of Tim Minchin.
Ticket prices are family-friendly, at just $10 for each general admission seat.
They're on sale via www.iheartforeverafter .org or by calling Forever After Productions at (734) 547-5156. Advance purchase is advised.
The show has evening performances at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9, and matinees at 2 p.m. on Nov. 9, and 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10. All shows are at the Plymouth Arts and Recreation complex, or PARC, at 650 Church St. in downtown Plymouth, with free parking available behind the building off Adams St.
The show is rated PG because of mild language and cruelty toward schoolchildren (though they do get their revenge in the end).
