A Van Buren Township man has been charged with murder in the death of his wife last week.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Terrance Oneal, 63, in connection with the homicide of Belinda Oneal, 62. The couple lived in the 7000 block of Fay Drive in the township.
It is alleged that at approximately 1 a.m. Nov. 5, Oneal and his wife had a verbal argument in their
home which escalated into violence when he fatally shot her. Police reports indicate that Oneal left the Fay Drive home in his personal vehicle shortly after the incident. Police arrived at the scene at about 1:30 a.m.
and officers discovered the lifeless body of Belinda Oneal on the second floor of the home. She died from a single gunshot wound, according to Worthy's office.
At approximately 3 a.m.
the same day, Oneal was stopped by police officers on I-94 in Berrien County and placed under arrest. Van Buren Township police were dispatched to the Berrien County jail and transported the defendant back to Van Buren Township.
The defendant has been charged with second degree murder and felony firearm.
