The Sumpter Township branch of the Belleville Area District Library will be officially opened during a ribbon-cutting ceremony set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.
Following the official ceremony, the new branch will be open to the public.
Library Director Mary Jo Suchy told members of the library board at a recent meeting that the roofing, exterior cladding/siding, and floor installation were almost complete on Nov. 7.
Millwork was scheduled for completion just before Thanksgiving, she said.
The new library in downtown Belleville is set to open Feb. 8 and the current
facility scheduled to close for the transfer of materials on Jan. 13. The Sumpter facility will be open during the transition period.
