Canton promotes new ‘Shop Local’ campaign

In response to the State of Michigan pandemic order, and with the holiday season approaching, the Canton Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has developed a detailed list of businesses that are open with detailed information of services available.

Signs are scheduled for installation throughout the DDA district and shoppers will see the We're Open signs that point to the ShopCanton.org home page where they'll find a categorized business list with information regarding outside service, curbside, carry-out, delivery, online ordering, inside shopping, inside service, and gift cards, explained Bart Patterson, chairman of the DDA board.

“The DDA board is constantly working to keep the Ford Road corridor vibrant and active with business. During the Covid situation, we are working to help identify those businesses which remain open and keep customers aware,” Patterson said. “We want to keep the downtown development area full of traffic and directed to those businesses working to keep their doors open, helping employees, and serving the public. Please help us by supporting your local businesses and shop local. ShopCanton,” he said.

The Canton DDA and the Canton Chamber of Commerce have joined forces in a collaborative effort is to help support all businesses throughout Canton Township, including Canton Chamber members.

Canton Township Economic Development Manager Kristen Thomas said, “Small business are the heart of any community. And Canton has such a wide variety of small business offerings, I have no doubt that everybody's shopping, dining and service needs can be met locally.”

“Canton's local businesses are invested in the well-being of our community and its future,” said Anne Marie Graham-Hudak, Canton Township supervisor. “I challenge everyone to purchase their holiday meals and gifts from three Canton businesses and post them online for all to see!  Let's keep Canton moving forward!”
