A great deal of traffic is expected on Union Street in Plymouth Saturday when the community celebrates the retirement of Susan Stoney from the Plymouth District Library.
Stoney has served as the library community relations specialist since 2001 and has worked full time in that position for 10 years.
“Susan has proudly represented the Plymouth District Library for 19 years and we want to send her off with a hurrah,” said Library Director Carol Souchock, who has planned a special tribute for Stoney.
“The inability to gather safely is prohibiting the opportunity for a traditional retirement party for Susan so we are offering you a drive-by opportunity to share your best wishes,” she said in an invitation to the public to join the tribute. She urged residents of the community to join a drive-by celebration beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19.
“Please drive past the library parking lot steps to share your best wishes. You are welcome to make a sign, wave a flag, and honk your horn.
“We are expecting a crowd so you are encouraged to enter the parking lot from Union Street and join the car parade,” Souchock advised.
Cards congratulating Stoney can be sent to the library at Plymouth District Library, 223 S. Main St., Plymouth, MI 48170.
