Christmas with the First Ladies at The White House is a popular exhibit now on display at the Plymouth Historical Museum, 155 S. Main St. in downtown Plymouth.

The exhibit, which continues until Jan. 10, goes “right back to Martha, the very first,” museum Marketing Director Rennae Green said of Martha Custis Washington. “We do go all the way back so it's quite a span.”

Some 20 costumed mannequins are featured, with many dresses from the collection of archivist Pam Yockey, also a seamstress. The Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama and Melania Trump years are covered.

The Plymouth Historical Museum is open to the public from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. More information is available at plymouthhistory.org or (734) 455-8940.

Vignettes in the exhibit represent first ladies in The White House through the years. Green noted it's being an election year contributed to the exhibit choice. The museum will close to the public Jan. 10 until Jan. 27 when the next exhibit opens.

That “First Ladies, Fashion Setters” exhibit will be open through June 13. This exhibit will feature the dresses of the first ladies and their impact and influence in fashion.

“Despite all the circumstances going on at the moment it's been pretty good,” Green said of attendance. In past years, the exhibit based on Red Ryder BB guns and “A Christmas Story,” the related movie, drew crowds.

“People are looking to do something festive,” Green said.

The museum gift shop has books on the first ladies as well as ornaments through The White House Historical Association. “They're like felt, nicely done,” she said of the ornaments.
