Happy holiday

Maraschinos donates scooters to Canton BLOCK youth members

Maraschinos Pub staff distributed electric scooters to
Canton Youth Connection members resulting in plenty of smiles.
Participants of The B.L.O.C.K. Youth and Teen Center Canton Youth Connection (CYC) program each received a very special holiday gift this year donated by Maraschinos Pub.

In the spirit of the season, Maraschinos Pub donated 26 electric scooters so that every Canton Youth Connection participant was able to take home this popular holiday gift. After holding a dine and donation drive, where 50 percent of all their sales from Saturday, Dec. 12 were put toward the gifts, Maraschinos Pub was able to provide holiday cheer to all of these participants.

“Thanks to the generosity of Maraschinos Pub in Canton, every student in the Canton Youth Connection program received this special present as a way to both celebrate and brighten the holiday season,” stated Laura Mortier, The B.L.O.C.K. Youth and Teen Center supervisor. “This year has been challenging to all of us as COVID continues to dominate our lives, but Maraschinos Pub was able to put smiles on all of the children's faces by spreading Christmas cheer.”

Maraschinos Pub, located at 50296 Cherry Hill Road in Canton, supports numerous Canton Leisure Services programs throughout the year in addition to the Canton Youth Connection, including Hot Meal Mondays, The B.L.O.C.K. Afterschool program, and others.

The Canton Youth Connection is a free afterschool program for qualifying children ages 5-10 within the Canton community. Throughout the year, CYC participants meet weekly at Miller Elementary School to address themes and goals through activities including crafts; guest speakers from the Canton community: the value of achievement; showcasing neighborhood resources; the importance of lifelong fitness; increase knowledge of nutrition and healthy lifestyles; creating positive attitudes about the future; learning how to work with others and the ability to work out conflicts; and more.
