The fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man in Romulus last week remains under investigation, according to Romulus police.
The unidentified man suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head Dec. 1, according to police reports. Romulus police were called to a home in the 15000 block of Taft near Eureka and Middlebelt Road at about 9:20 p.m. in response to a report of shots being fired. Responding officers entered the home and discovered the victim, dead from the head wound.
Another Romulus officer, on routine patrol in the neighborhood reported observing a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander speeding through the subdivision at about the time of the incident. According to police reports, the offices attempted to make a traffic stop of the vehicle, which was initially stopped by the driver, but sped away as the officer approached from the squad car.Romulus police and Michigan State Police troopers pursued the vehicle at high speeds through the city of Hamtramck until the occupant ran from the vehicle near the 13000 block of St. Louis near Mt. Elliott and McNichols on Detroit's east side.
